The mission of Beloved Youth Moving Forward is to seek sponsorships with foundations such as Girls Becoming in Jamaica. The founder Ingrid Stewart Boivin has designed an amazing 2-year graduate program with her class of 12 girls. Partnering with her was an easy match as we paralleled in theory as she had several programs already set in place. It was a matter of maximizing resources to move her organization to the next level.
Through mentorship, she helps her girls with their current life situations and teaches core values for them to become the "best they can be". Ingrid provides life and real-world skills to her classes as they participate in monthly sessions, while providing professional and educational experts to teach courses and move the teens forward into adulthood.
Partnering with The Sesi is a part of our global mission. Our vision is to provide a platform for girls to realize their full potential and seize opportunities, allowing them to become Sesi Lomkhulus (big sisters) in their community and our country.
What is it that we do to achieve our vision:
In this search for equity in the world, there is a population that the world does not see, they are these young people who are deaf, or with cognitive disabilities, who have other wonderful talents such as their creativity, and tenacity to achieve independence, self worth and contribution to their community. Our Director, in one of his immersion and research trips in Colombia, identified this youth group having little or no economic support. The youth have the entrepreneural spirit to provide hand made crafts using various materials including leather for purses, bracelets and other fashionable items. These items are sold at various markets and abroad which provide economic support and self-sustaining activities=INDEPENDENCE.
